The desolate fields of death that dominate the big islands landscape are truely a sight to behold. Even with the help of natures beautifull backdrop I could not help thinking about the lives that had been lost and the terrible fear of the STILL ACTIVE volcano ready to present terror again to the islanders. This volcano last let off steam in 1974 and as you see the redness and flow is still very present and attracts more tourists to the lands than any other part of Hawaii. I left the site of the flowing lava among 100's of others both leaving and arriving and felt I was in a mass exodus ... My mind is sometimes a bit wonky
