Trainspotting

Train coming
View all 5 photos...
Just close by my house we have this nice level crossing, I have a memory as a child living in England of seeing level crossings but they have mostly vanished now replaced by bridges and tunnels. Here in Japan there are quite a few level crossings and i think they are a wonderful sight to behold. I went to our crossing and it wasn't long before i was blessed with a train coming down the line. Please enjoy these pictures. I used the Minolta dimage 7UG to take these on a high setting.

Great photos...The "train coming" shot is excellent.
Minolta is great...My first camera was a Minolta X300 SLR...!!

Forgotten Metal

At last .. a bus
Time tunnel
Could be an old Vanguard?
Yes I have moved on from wood to metal now and will be posting pics of life within metal and death and I hope you like these for starters they were taken in UK using a Sony Cybershot P7. the owner of the scrap yard was not impressed that I was taking pictures and actually threatened to smash my camera, little did he know that i was county sprint champion when i was younger and the old legs still had the acceleration to out run him... . I wonder what he was so affraid of......

Anyway enjoy the shots, more to come

Great shots...Makes me feel as if the world has suddenly stopped turning.... Mon 15-Mar-2004 02:15

Chair

Chair
Macro shot of a garden chair, it's a metal cast chair. I thought the pattern on the back of the chair reflected the garden very well and the texture was interesting, hope you enjoy.

After spending the best part of 2 days looking at a lot of the pages on this website I noticed that a lot of people have some great images of flowers and buds about to blossom so i thought it would be a nice challenge for me to photograph some budding interesting flowers and i found these little cuties growing on a tree at my friends house...... perfect. Please enjoy them.

Guitars and Emperors

Tokai les paul reborn (Goldtop) 1978
Gibson les paul recording model 1971
Greco les paul custom 1980
View all 6 photos...
The first selection of guitars are of various types of Les Paul guitar all shot from a similar angle it shows the wood that was given a new life. I am a guitar collecter and have many classic instruments, I will find the time to photograph the lot one day.

Second set is of the royal imperial palace in Kyoto which is Japans old capital way back in the days of the Samurai, as we know the modern world gave the title of 'capital' to Tokyo but I still prefer the old times and many parts of Kyoto have been left traditional and is a beautiful place.

The palace photo is great !! Thu 11-Mar-2004 08:15

Expressing colour with Monochrome

Wall to wall greyness
Colour image of something black and white'ish
From the light to the dark
View all 6 photos...
I give myself these wierd tasks to try to improve my photographic skills. This selection is trying to express the colour within a black & white image. I have included 1 image that is the exact opposite and it is trying to represent black and white with a colour image. Hope you can enjoy these pictures and excuse my temporary insanity.

Great Series
I think I like #3 most !

I was gonna make up a big story about my son pestering me to use his toys but actually these are my toys. Always liked Thunderbirds as a kid and I'm still a kid now it's just that my new toys cost a bit more... I thought that as well as the happy memories it would also be a challenge to photograph small toys. hope you enjoy the memories and the pics

Japans Last Stand (Saipan)
View all 6 photos...
Found these artifacts on a holiday trip to Saipan. The Japanese army tried to hold of the onslaught of the alied forces in Saipan but it wasn't long before the small stronghold fell. You can also see sunken planes and ships just off the coast of Saipan and on my next trip I will try to get some pics from a little tourists submarine they have there. Until then, enjoy a small piece of history.

Pics were taken with the Minolta UG7 Dimage on med setting.

Cycle of Death

Stump
Stump macro
Stump 2
View all 6 photos...
I shot these pics using a Contax TVS on medium settings some are macro and some using manual settings, the theme is about the death of wood, as a musician i know that long after wood has reached death it can also be tranformed into a new form of life in the shape of a guitar / piano / or even furniture. My point here is the wood that was forgotten and left to present Death.

I truly enjoyed these...nice shots! Sun 7-Mar-2004 20:01
